To Tell the Afghanistan Truth
There was/is a game show called To Tell the Truth. You have to choose which contestant is the actual person the moderator describes. I think of Afghanistan like this. Who is Afghanistan? The rural tribes? The city intellectuals? The American-supported Government? The Taliban? Everyone's saying "it's their Afghanistan" and "we're Afghanistan" but I think they all are. How does that game work? Who wins? Who can win? How can it be win, win? Non-zero sum? It's aiming to be a zero-sum game, methinks.
