Actual weapons systems are 30 years in the future

I just assume that kinetic weapons are secretly all 30 years in the future. Back in the 80s, my TRW Uncle from Los Angeles showed me his practical surface to air particle beam weapons. The 80s! Not theoretical but actual. 1986. I mean, they were beam weapons and they were pulsed because otherwise it would just cut through whereas when they pulse, they were catastrophic. That’s 35 years ago. And that’s for real. He gave me a TRW promotional pamphlet at the time. Wow, right?
